Helen Grace Foster

Helen Grace Foster, age 85, of Gainesville, Georgia, passed away on July 12, 2026. Born on September 30, 1940, in Habersham County, she was the daughter of the late George and Mabel (née Owens) Tanner.

Helen graduated from the Medical College of Georgia School of Nursing in 1962 and dedicated her career to caring for patients at Northeast Georgia Medical Center, where she worked for 35 years before retiring as Head Nurse of the Cardiac Care Unit. She was known throughout the hospital as a compassionate advocate for her patients and a mentor to younger nurses.

After retirement, Helen volunteered with Hospice of Northeast Georgia and served meals at the Gainesville Community Kitchen every Tuesday morning. She was an avid reader, a skilled watercolor artist, and a devoted grandmother who rarely missed a grandchild's school event.

She is survived by her husband, Richard Foster; her children, David Foster (Melissa) and Linda Crane (Paul); six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Barbara Jean Tanner.
